Details of Experience:
I met patient upon arrival. She was a sweet, kind woman, who was going through a very tough time in her life. Young; only 55 and already went through a double mastectomy. Besides the physical pain and discomfort she was experiencing, there was serious psychological uneasiness and self consciousness that comes along with the specific procedure she got.

Needles to say, the first few days were tough for her. Our team went out of their way to make her as comfortable and happy as possible, and she was very thankful. She started her therapy and got into her daily schedule here at The Riverside. From day one, the Nursing staff on the 12th floor went above and beyond for her- in an extremely caring and personal way. The Certified Nursing Assistants, who were in contact with her on a daily basis created a warm nurturing bond with her- a bond that we pride ourselves in, here at The Riverside. She felt like they truly, truly cared about her.

Her therapy continued to progress. She became close with both her OT and PT, and made tremendous strides on her journey towards recovery. She interacted with her nurse in a positive, friendly manner and received emotional courage and support from every member of the 12th floor staff.

In her discharge survey, she mentioned all the CNAs assigned to her from all shifts, the Concierge department, nurses assigned to her and even the porter/housekeeper assigned to her room. She stated that she was welcomed and received with a smile every time she bumped into a member of our staff.

All departments did an incredible job with the residents- however this particular shout out goes to the nursing staff on the 12th floor. With the professionalism and truly warm atmosphere they provided, our resident was happily discharged home to continue her recovery.

She stated that should she ever need to return to a skilled nursing facility, without a doubt in her mind she will chose The Riverside.
