The common saying, April showers bring May flowers, stays true as many flowers of opportunities blossom at The Riverside. We get a true reprieve from the cold and can take deep breaths of spring. The Riverside has a lot of fun in store for our patients and residents. Residents will see familiar weekend and monthly programming, including yoga, tai chi, religious services, live music, and art programs.
Mother’s Day
On May 12th, Riverside will celebrate Mother’s Day with a celebratory high tea and horticulture event, “Beauty Through Your Bulb.” Mother’s Day will kick off our 10th annual Nursing Home Week, which will offer appreciation effects, prizes, and opportunities to connect with our Riverside community and families.
Brunch Bonanza on May 8th at 2:00 pm
This event will give residents the opportunity to experience brunch on Riverside’s rooftop. Fabulous brunch items will include chicken and waffles, pancakes, eggs, sausage/bacon, and croissant sandwiches. Live music and games will be played throughout the event. All residents are welcome to attend. Interested residents should contact their unit recreation professional to be added to the list of expected attendees.
Talent Show
The highly requested talent show will be taking place on May 14th at 2:30 pm. The show will feature the hidden talents of the staff at the Riverside. Residents, patients, staff, families, talents, audience members, and judges are welcome to participate in the event. Audience members will be involved in judging of the contestants. Signups will open on April 15th to sign up for May 14th’s talent show. Winners will receive a trophy for the talent show winner. All contestants will receive certificates for participating in the talent show. Residents who want to attend or participate in the talent show can contact their unit’s recreation professionals to sign up. Light refreshments will be served at the event.
Resident Spotlight
Resident Spotlight returns to The Riverside on Friday, May 24th, at 2:30 pm on the 9th floor. Our resident musician from the 9th floor will be serenading his peers with solo-written songs and popular tunes throughout the past century. Residents and families are welcome to attend and add to the discussion regarding artistry, songwriting, and the music industry. Residents are encouraged to contact their unit recreation therapist or activity professional to be added to the interested resident list for this program. Any resident interested in being featured in future Resident Spotlights can contact an activity member or call extension 3561 to discuss future features. While there will be no food or beverage at this event, residents can take songs and stories from our musician’s life music, building his passion for music.
