To kick off National Nursing Home Week at The Riverside, residents participated in an all day Senior Olympics special event hosted by the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Each participant received a medal and a ribbon just for competing in Senior Olympics! On Tuesday, staff from every department came together for an Open House afternoon in the Penthouse Solarium. The theme for the open house was “The Riverside Metro Express: Next Stop ReNEWal,” where decorations and tables were designated as the different NYC subway lines for each department. For Staff Appreciation Day, The Riverside hosted an All-Staff Fiesta Luncheon in three shifts to include day, evening and nightshift workers. On Resident Appreciation Day, balloons were given out on every floors community dayroom as well as special dessert at lunchtime. Finally, to round out National Nursing Home Week and Spirit Week at The Riverside, a conference room was set up with an all day reception with food and giveaways for all the family members, visitors, friends, relatives and vendors who visit our community every day. Travel mugs were given out as gifts, and coffee was served.
